Have you ever tried to get a very good photo of the moon?  Have you noticed how hard it is to catch it while it seems to move so fast?  This is an old photo that I shot with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and my Sigma 70-300mm lens.  I haven’t tried shooting the moon yet with my new Canon EOS 5D but it is something that I plan to do but I was just curious as to when the best time it was to shoot?  Is it in the summer, the winter, etc.?  If you know then let me know and I will try my best.

If you have a shot of the moon that you want to share with us then please do so.  We are all dying to see it.

Last night I got to experience The Big Fresno Fair.  It was a great time.  We actually caught a concert of Christian Artist Michael W. Smith.  I thought his performance was okay but I was used to more of his songs that were popular today and not the older ones.  He sung pretty well and the area was a nice atmosphere.  The temperature still felt pretty hot when we left about 10:15pm. 

The last time I went to The Big Fresno Fair I went with my pastor and the youth to see Third Day play.  Their performance was absolutely amazing.  The Michael W. Smith concert finished a little before 9pm and we wanted to see the rest of the fair.  All of the rides seemed too big for my son so we just walked down through the exhibits.  I took some photos with my iPhone and I wish I had brought my Canon Mark II but I am not sure what I was thinking. 

As we were leaving I noticed the photo exhibits and thought to myself, “it would be great to enter next year.”  I plan to.  All the work seemed pretty nice and some that was more amateur looking but I really didn’t get to see too many of the photos as the exhibit was closed.  Maybe I can catch some of the photos online.  I will have to research that.

It was a funny thing too….as we were leaving the area and jumping on to Highway 180 I noticed a car over on the left and I looked over and they were waving at me.  It looked like some former students of Firebaugh High School that remembered me when I worked there many years ago.  I am sorry if I didn’t know who you were but your face looked familiar.  It made us all laugh in the car because it reminded me of a story about how everyone knows “Bubba”.

This is a photo of Catal which is a restaurant and bar that is right in the middle of Downtown Disney.  I thought that Downtown Disney was amazing.  It has lots of different atmospheres for all types of people.  We actually saw the Fireworks from within Downtown Disney.

The photo above, I used Adobe Lightroom and some presets to touch it up and give it that look.

The photo below was all natural and taken with a 1 second lapse using my Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving of this year I was on my way to work and a semi (Yes a big rig) jumped out in front of me.  The CHP officer said I was lucky to walk away from that.  I was using my in-laws vehicle to go to work because mine was getting repaired and it was the first day of the valley fog.  The truck was carrying some hay and it jumped out in front of me.  I didn’t have enough time to stop but man did I try.  There was a bridge that I was on so I couldn’t try to swerve out of the way to avoid it either.  I literally stood up in the Geo trying to stop the car.  I ran right into the last tire on the trailer rig.  The tire of the trailer hit the front of the car and the rail along the trailer hit the windshield.  If I would have gone any farther I would have been decapitated by the trailer rail.  Just thought I would let you all know!  I am okay though.  The car didn’t have any airbags or antilock brakes.  This is a photo of the car on a trailer so we could take it back to my in-laws house.

I got to do some traveling last week.  My wife and I celebrated our anniversary and we went down to Palm Springs and Los Angeles area.  We went over to Laguna Beach to see the sunset and went to some restaurant for dinner which wasn’t very good.  I cant remember the name but it ended with Grille.  We ordered some special which was a steak that seemed to be burnt on the outside where it tasted just like charcoal and was red and bloody on the inside.  The desert was even burnt beyond edible.  I wasn’t happy. 

This is a photo of the sunset from Laguna Beach that I photographed.  I plan on uploading some more photos from the Palm Springs area but we will see when.

I took this photo while my daughter and I went to pickup my in-laws at the airport.  We drove to the parking lot and walked over to the Sheraton and took the elevator to the highest floor we could and walked to the end of the hallway and I snapped this photo.  The only bad thing was that building was in the way.  I will definitely have to go back and check it out.  

I know this is late but it is really good information on how to photograph fireworks.  Darren Rowse has a step by step guide on how to photograph fireworks.  I am going to have to try this stuff.  Maybe I can try to catch a firework show somewhere either that or wait until New Year’s Eve.  To read more click here!
