Pictage Specializes in Weddings!

I recently was doing some research on trying to find a good company that can take some of the load off from me having to do all the photo editing, printing and all that stuff, and I came across a company called Pictage.  It seems like a very impressive company that can handle a lot of work.  I found that they offer a lot of services and it seems like the marketing for your business is also done by them giving you a lot of power.  Your customers get a well designed site and impressive work to look at and order.  The price is a little steep for an amateur photographer but if you can begin to earn the money quickly with them then it is going to be well worth it.  If anyone out there has used or is using Pictage I would love to hear some feedback from you.  I know a lot of professionals are using it and would just like to share with others about it.

Alright, so I’m a little biased because I started working at Pictage earlier this month, but I’m a professional photographer and was a Pictage member for over a year before I joined the team. Here’s my .02 cents:

If you shoot more than 12 events a year, you can easily cover the membership fees just by selling prints. When you couple the print sales with the free album design service and the marketing services, you’ll find Pictage will make you money and save you a ton of time on the back end with order fulfillment and payment processing. There’s also an amazing community of Pictage users that meet up in PUG groups (Pictage User Groups).People meet and exchange marketing and business tips, talk shop, and generally have a fine ol’ time. That’s actually how I started working here: I was at my local PUG meeting complaining about how I shoot too much and a friend offered me a job.

The downside: if you’ve never FTP’d and aren’t a quick learner on the computer, it may be hard to learn the system. There’s definitely a learning curve. That said, something like 8000 photographers have figured it out. Also, if you’re not doing more than 10 events or you’re clients are low budget your sales may not cover the membership fee, which is really what makes the service sweet.

Ty, thanks for the post and yes, I do agree with you. It gets costly and if you dont know how to do some simple stuff on the computer or even some difficult stuff like FTP then you might be limited and feel afraid to use it. For someone like yourself who actually works at Pictage, what do you use for your photography? Are you still using Pictage or have you found another way? Would love to see some of your work. Thanks again for the post.

Hello again! Very nice images posted on your blog. I need to go back to the Monterey Bay Aquarium to take some shots of the marine life. You gave me the inspiration I needed after I scrolled down and saw the image of the jelly. You might consider uploading some of your images at Amvona too.
