When I first started blogging I did a post about Photography Magazines. I want to do a similar one since the old one is gone now. I figured this way I can change it up a bit with the new style also.
American Photo
American Photo is a very interesting magazine. It contains a lot of very good work and some very interesting articles. Articles in the magazine can be a little risque because of the content but it is very artistic. Charlize Theron posed for some pictures in the magazine displaying a rather personal side of herself but very beautifully done. (It’s Charlize Theron, anything she does is going to be beautiful.

Shutterbug
Shutterbug is another great magazine that I like to read because of the great articles and tips on new hardware and software. They test cameras and rate them according to their performance to help you choose a great camera for your buck.
Shutterbug is a Copyright of Source Interlink Media

Studio Photography

Studio Photography is a very good magazine for photographers because it contains very good material on how to run your photography business. They have so many ways to help your photography business grow like helping you find ways to market yourself as a photographer.
Studio Photography is a Copyright of Cygnus Interactive, a Division of Cygnus Business Media.

There are so many photography magazines out there and I would love to hear what your favorite magazine is and your experience with them. If you would like to post about yours please do so and don’t forget to post some photos as well.

This photo is not mine! I wish it was but its not. I wanted to talk about the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and see if anyone had the opportunity to be there and exactly how is it with all the people? To be able to see and capture the beauty of Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show models like Gisele, Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima and so many more. This photo was taken by some other photographer who’s name I cant find but I must say he did an incredible job. If maybe he would have waited a half a second later for her to get her right eye open. The picture below was also taken from an anonymous photographer but I must say he did a great job. If anyone would like to post their photos from the show or other favorite photos of the Victoria’s Secret Models, please do so. I would love to see them. Just make sure they are your photos.

This is a photo of Arnold Schwarzenegger signing my copy of Batman and Robin on LaserDisc. He came to visit Firebaugh when we were at risk of flooding. Luckily we had some very hard working California Conservation Corps working here to prevent the San Joaquin River from flooding. I took this picture of Arnold with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and my Sigma 70-300mm lens. I knew he was going to be right there in the back of my house but didn’t know how close he was going to get so I used that. It turned out he was practically right in the back yard.

Well, I think it is official. Wedding Season is over. I don’t see very many weddings going on in the Fall and it is such a shame. I think the Fall is the best time for weddings because of the beautiful light that is available. It just seems that the light is cleaner and more brilliant during the Fall. I usually get all of my wedding events booked during the summer but would love to do one during the winter. If anyone is interested let me know and I can arrange a demo of my work.
Anyone with wedding events coming up, I would love to see some of the work afterwards.

I think that lighting is the key to every photograph. If you have too much then your photos tend to be washed out with all the light. If you don’t have enough then your photos come out too dark. If you can master your camera and learn how it reacts with certain lenses to light then you can truly master the way you and your camera takes pictures.
I took this photo with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and my Canon 28-135mm lens. I didn’t use any flash just the natural light that was there. I had a bit of a long shutter speed so that I could get the effect of the Carousel spinning in motion. I took this photo at the mall in Irvine.

I recently was doing some research on trying to find a good company that can take some of the load off from me having to do all the photo editing, printing and all that stuff, and I came across a company called Pictage. It seems like a very impressive company that can handle a lot of work. I found that they offer a lot of services and it seems like the marketing for your business is also done by them giving you a lot of power. Your customers get a well designed site and impressive work to look at and order. The price is a little steep for an amateur photographer but if you can begin to earn the money quickly with them then it is going to be well worth it. If anyone out there has used or is using Pictage I would love to hear some feedback from you. I know a lot of professionals are using it and would just like to share with others about it.

I was reading one of my favorite magazines this week and I came across an article about marketing your photography services to people using DVD’s. I thought this was a great idea because it would allow you create a DVD that can include all of your different types of work so that you can target more people instead of just targeting one market. The article was great and includes some information on what exactly to include on the DVD if you want to target a wider range of market. The article was written by Phillip Frink and can be read here!
