Abiam Alvarez

This is some work that was done by Abiam Alvarez who is my wife’s cousin. He has some amazing detail in his work. He specializes in Ceramic and Painting. I did a post on him and how much do you think his work should cost but never heard back from anyone. I would love to see if anyone else out there would like to tell me how much they would pay for this type of work. I took this photo with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT using my Canon 28-135mm lens and studio lights.
San Pedro Sulas, Honduras

This is a photo of a mural that was put together with tile pieces inside a hotel in the middle of San Pedro Sulas, Honduras. We went to have lunch at the hotel restaurant and I noticed the beautiful mural and how it had so much detail. I snapped the photo with my Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT.
Mary Allen’s Country Colors
I recently finished creating the site for Mary Allen. She is happy and it looks great. I love her work. If anyone is interested in viewing more of her art please check out her site. We are still working on perfecting it some more but we are close.
I pretty much had her purchase the domain name and I installed WordPress 2.8 on her host and we were in business very quickly. I did some customizing and it is almost done. I went over to their home last week and was able to install Windows Live Writer for them. I love how easy the program is for updating your blog. I showed them the Dashboard and how to manage the site. We still have some work to do but that the hard part is done.
I also want to mention that her husband Dink does some very beautiful custom framing on photos, paintings and anything that you want to put in a picture frame. Check them out!
Selling Your Work
This is a photo that I found on the V&A Images website that contains a set of photos that show the progress of building work, South Kensington Museum.
I love this photo and was just curious for the other photographers that are out there. How do you actually go about selling your work in a place like this or even in a much smaller environment? I get people asking me all the time about buying some of my work and I keep giving them stuff that I print out and give it to them but how do you go about getting your stuff in a gallery? I would love for one day to get my work shown in a place like this. I always get a feeling when I go to someone’s place and see my work hanging on the wall. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment.
If anyone out there is in my situation or has some experience on how to get your work out there in more places I am sure the rest of us would love to hear the ideas and struggles it took to get your work to where it is at today.
Calling All Photographers
Recently, I was talking with a teacher at the Dos Palos High School about photography. She commented about a photographer that has just opened up her own studio in town. I thought that was great that there are students out there that are given this talent of capturing special moments with their camera.
Amy Miller is the name of the photographer and Amy if you are out there please feel free to signup and share some of your work and experience. I always love to hear and see what other photographers are up to. I know she just finished opening up her business and would love to help you out in any way possible.
If there are any other photographers that are out there that would love to share their experiences and wisdom with the rest of us then please feel free to do so. I am always looking for ideas to share on the site so if you have some then please feel free to share them. I recall doing an article about the war photographer Jonathan Alpeyrie who has done a lot of work in some of the scariest places. He actually contacted me and had me do a post of some of his work from China. I lost that post when my blog site crashed. I hope to get it back up soon.
If you are interested in getting wedding photos, senior portraits and more and you are in Amy’s area or want her to come to yours then contact her about an appointment.
Amy let me know if it is okay to share your studio information on this site. I wouldn’t want to do it without your consent.
Aluminum Prints
I got a message yesterday from this vendor in my email and I thought it was cool. Now you have all heard about the metallic prints but the new thing is aluminum prints. I thought it was amazing so I signed up to get a free sample of the quality. We will see what it looks like when it arrives.
The cost is a little expensive but then again it is on aluminum which does take a lot to process. I wonder how long the ink will last on the finish. I have seen a few old Pepsi cans out there that have seemed to lose their quality but the same goes for ink on paper.
