Creating a Triptych in Adobe Lightroom

April 28th, 2009 No comments

I was checking out The Digital Photography School site and found this post by Helen Bradley which shows you how to create a Triptych in Adobe Lightroom.  I recall wanting to be able to print out my work side by side and what an easy and excellent way to take Adobe Lightroom and make it so easy for you as a photographer to do it.

Which Forum Is The Best?

nigelbarker Which Forum Is The Best?

I am sure that everyone else out there that is just getting started is as curious as me as to find out which Photography Forum is the best to join.  I have used a lot of forums in my day but the majority of them were from the technology industry since I work with computers and technology almost 99% of my day.  I was curious as to find out what others thought about joining a Photography Forum.  I just signed up on American Photo/Popular Photography’s Forum and noticed that there hasn’t been much input for some time but I am hoping that will change.

If anyone out there has a forum that they recommend that contains lots of tips, ideas and maybe even some cool stuff for photographers would be greatly appreciated if you can share it with the rest of us newbie photographers out there.

Thanks again!

Selling Your Work

vaimages Selling Your Work

This is a photo that I found on the V&A Images website that contains a set of photos that show the progress of building work, South Kensington Museum.

I love this photo and was just curious for the other photographers that are out there.  How do you actually go about selling your work in a place like this or even in a much smaller environment?  I get people asking me all the time about buying some of my work and I keep giving them stuff that I print out and give it to them but how do you go about getting your stuff in a gallery?  I would love for one day to get my work shown in a place like this.  I always get a feeling when I go to someone’s place and see my work hanging on the wall.  It gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

If anyone out there is in my situation or has some experience on how to get your work out there in more places I am sure the rest of us would love to hear the ideas and struggles it took to get your work to where it is at today.

Steganography

image thumb1 Steganography

Have you ever had a message that you needed to get to someone but didn’t want the whole world to see or hear it?  I was looking through some old files and documents from one of the college classes I took while I was in school.  I recall a class on computer ethics and we covered the topic of Steganography.  I know you are probably thinking what does this have to do with Photography or anything like my usual stuff but I thought it would be cool for other photographers out there to know about this stuff.

Steganography is  the art and science of writing a hidden message in a way that no one except the sender and the intended recipient can read it.  The word steganography is of Greek origin and means “concealing writing”.

I took a snapshot of a program called JPHS for Windows and allows you to take a photo like the one below and conceal a text message or some other file inside it.

If you used JPHS Windows program on the photo above and used the right passwords to decrypt the image you will see something similar to the file below.

It is nice and there are probably millions of other ways to go about doing the same thing but it is just cool to me that you can take a photo and hide something in it.

If anyone has experience with this or ideas on how it all works, I would love to hear about them.
